Andrew’s Pitch

Andrew introduced his single-serve Zipz wine to the sharks. His wine comes pre-packaged in a glass, but not an ordinary one.

The glass is so strong that he stood on it to prove its durability.

He handed out samples, explaining that each glass is wrapped in UV-protected paper to extend shelf life and ensure easy storage and serving.

Zipz Valuation and Shark Reactions

Zipz Valuation and Shark Reactions

Andrew struggled to present a clear vision for Zipz. He believed the company’s value went beyond its unique wine flavor.

In his view, the patented packaging with UV protection was a key asset.

However, the sharks questioned his $25 million valuation, especially since he sought a $2.5 million investment.

Each glass cost Andrew just under $0.95 to produce, and he sold them for $3.00.

He had secured early partnerships with baseball stadiums and sports arenas, hoping to generate licensing royalties from his packaging technology.

However, Zipz’s sales numbers failed to justify the high valuation.

Lori Greiner, Mark Cuban, Daymond John, and Robert Herjavec decided to back out.

Kevin O’Leary, however, showed interest—on one condition. He wanted Andrew to lower production costs before moving forward.

Kevin promised to help Zipz enter Costco stores across North America, but only if Andrew made meaningful cost reductions.

Kevin offered $2.5 million for 10% equity, with an option to purchase more. After a quick call with investors, Andrew accepted the deal.

Where Is Zipz Now?

Zipz remains in business but no longer produces its own branded wine. The company now focuses on licensing its patented packaging technology.

It stopped selling its wine in 2017 and currently lacks an online presence. Kevin O’Leary continues to help Zipz secure new licensing deals.
